Privacy Policy

VEE (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable law (including Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law). By using VEE, you consent to the data practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account and Profile Data: When you register, we collect your name, email address, chosen password, date of birth, and any information you add to your profile (such as profile photo and bio). We may also collect your interests or cooking preferences. We need this information to create and manage your account and personalize your experience.
  • User-Generated Content: Anything you post on VEE — recipes, cooking videos, comments, ratings, chat messages, etc. May be collected and stored. If you submit content, it may also become public (depending on your settings). Remember that anything you share publicly can be seen by others. Even if you delete content later, copies may persist on other users’ devices or in backups.
  • Usage Data: We automatically collect data on how you use VEE, such as which recipes you view, how long you spend in live sessions, your likes and comments, and search queries. We gather this to improve our service. For example, we track which recipes you try or rate so we can recommend similar ones.
  • Device and Log Data: We collect technical details about the devices you use to access VEE (model, OS version, unique identifiers, and similar), as well as log data (such as IP address, access times, and pages visited). This helps us troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and detect abuse.
  • Communications: If you send us messages (for support or feedback), we collect the content of those messages. We use this to respond to your inquiries and improve VEE.
  • Location Data: If you enable location features (e.g. to find nearby cooking events), we may collect approximate location data. You can disable location sharing at any time in your device settings; if you do, some features may not work.

All data we collect is covered by explicit consent or necessary purposes under law. We will not process your personal data beyond what is needed for the purposes below.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To Operate the Service: We use your account and profile data to create your account, verify identity, and provide the core social cooking platform. We use your content (e.g. recipes you post) to display to others in accordance with your privacy settings.
  • Personalization: We analyze your preferences and cooking behavior to personalize your experience, such as suggesting recipes, friends, or live sessions that match your interests.
  • Social Features: We share your public profile information (like your username, profile photo, and posted recipes) with other users when needed, for example when someone views your profile or joins a cooking session with you. Within chats or groups, other participants will see whatever you share there.
  • Communication: We may send you updates by email or in-app notifications (e.g. confirming your registration, commenting on your recipe, or announcing new features). You can opt out of non-essential notifications in settings.
  • Analytics and Improvement: We use analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics or similar) to understand overall usage patterns. We aggregate and anonymize data to improve VEE’s features, fix bugs, and measure performance. For example, we might measure how many users watch a recipe video and for how long. These tools do not typically collect names or direct contact info.
  • Legal Compliance and Safety: We use your data to comply with laws and protect our community. For instance, we use information to enforce these Terms, prevent abuse or fraud, and cooperate with legal authorities if required. In Egypt, personal data processing must be lawful and for specific purposes; we limit processing to what you consented to or that is necessary for VEE’s operation.
  • Aggregate and Non-Identifiable Use: We may use aggregated, de-identified data (combining many users’ data without identifying individuals) for research and improvement. This is not personal data and is not subject to restrictions.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share data as described below or with your explicit permission.

3. Children and Parental Rights

Since users under 18 may use VEE with consent, we take special care with minors: anyone’s data under 18 is treated as sensitive. We require parents or guardians to approve their child’s use of the App. If you are a guardian, you can request access to your child’s data, correct it, or ask us to delete it. We encourage parents to discuss safe online behavior with their children.

Even after deletion of an account, some logs or backups may remain in our system, as permitted by law, but we will remove personal content where feasible. We also follow global best practices: for example, laws like California’s “eraser button” give minors the right to remove contenttermly.io. We similarly allow minors (through their guardians) to delete or deactivate their information at any time.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

  • Service Providers: VEE relies on trusted third-party service providers (e.g. cloud hosts, email services, analytics, and payment processors). We share only the minimum data needed with them. For example, if you make a purchase, the payment processor receives your billing info directly from you, not from us. We require all service providers to protect your data and only use it to provide their service to us.
  • Social Sharing: If you choose to link VEE with social networks (e.g. share a recipe with Facebook), we will share the relevant content on your behalf. The data shared in that case is governed by your choices and the privacy settings of those networks.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law or to protect rights. For instance, we might share information to comply with a court order or to stop fraud, as allowed by Egyptian law.

5. Security and Data Retention

We strive to protect your data using appropriate technical and organizational measures (encryption, access controls, firewalls, etc.). However, no system is completely secure, so please use caution in what you share. If a data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law.

We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless we are required to retain it by law. For example, if you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from active systems as soon as practical, consistent with the principle of data minimizationiclg.com. Some information (like aggregated analytics or logs) may be retained longer in non-identifiable form.

6. Your Rights

Under Egyptian law, you have rights regarding your personal data. You can:

  • Access and Correction: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and correct any errors.
  • Data Portability: Ask for a digital copy of your data to transfer to another service (to the extent this is technically feasible).
  • Deletion (Erase): Ask us to delete your personal data (subject to legal exceptions, e.g. business records laws). We will comply unless retention is required.
  • Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw consent at any time (for example, turn off data collection in settings or contact us). This will not affect data processed before withdrawal for lawful purposes.
  • Object and Restrict Processing: You may object to certain processing (like targeted recommendations or profiling); we will consider such requests case by case.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact privacy@veeapp.com. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by law. If you feel your rights are not respected, you may complain to the Egyptian data protection authority (PDPC).

7. Cookies and Tracking

VEE may use cookies and similar technologies (like local storage or device identifiers) to improve functionality. For example, a cookie might keep you logged in or remember language preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser or device settings but note that this may prevent some features (like staying logged in) from working properly.

8. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or law. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via app or email. The updated policy will be posted here with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of VEE after changes means you accept the new policy.

9. Contact Us

If you have questions about privacy, contact us at privacy@veeapp.com or use the “Contact Us” link in the app. We welcome your feedback to help improve our policies.
